Progressing Work and Data Collection

In this section, we will go through a detailed step-by-step process of data collection occurs in Trimble Unity.

Basics

• Data is collected using forms.
• A work order can be associated with multiple forms, either multiple forms of the same type, e.g. collecting the same data across multiple assets, or different data across the same asset or work order.
• A form can have different types of field including: free text, drop-down, date, barcode, and geometry.
• Fields can be mandatory or optional.
• Fields can be used to calculate a value based on the input in one or more other fields.
• Some fields can have default values to reduce the workload for the field crew in data entry.
• Forms can also be used to capture photographs, sketches, signatures, drawn polygons etc.
• Optional equipment, such as barcode readers, can be used to enter data directly into fields if the equipment is integrated with or connected to the device.
